Indianapolis in the '40s
Illinois Street looking north near the intersection of South Street in 1949. Armstrong Tires & Batteries at the far right - is now where the White Castle stands. The Tunnel Tavern is at the right. The Whistle Stop now occupied that building. The railroad over pass - which you can actually see a train passing through is now covered over. The building to the left is the Illinois St. Post Office Station and is now where the Greyhound Bus and Amtrak terminal now stands. Union Station clock is in the background.
